  On the pace lap - Al Unser and Jackie Oliver started on the front row followed by Vern Schuppan and Brian Redman
• 
  Big Al heads out of frame followed by Oliver, Redman, Alan Jones, and Danny Ongais
• 
  Ongais leads Brett Lunger, John Cannon, Warrick Brown, and Teddy Pilette through turn 7
• 
  Cannon, Brown, and Pilette
• 
  Brian Redman followed by Alan Jones
• 
  Al Unser led all 40 laps
• 
  Ongais and Lunger lap Hunter Harris
• 
  Jackie Oliver ran second to Al Unser all day
• 
  Ongais leads Lunger and Cannon through 7a onto the backstraight
• 
  Skeeter McKitterick holds off Schuppan while Maurizio Flammini follows.
  This was Flammini's only race in the F-5000 series.
