My research has found the first race for the Mini division was in May of 1972. There was no fanfare, the division was not listed in the schedule in the 1972 souvenir program, nothing in newspaper articles leading up to the race about a new division, just race results in the Sunday paper. I'm still confused about when it actually started because there are photos of Mini Stocks racing when the half-mile track existed in the sixties. And the Minis were a weekly division at Highland Rim early in 1972. Did Mr. Donoho start running them to take cars away from the Rim?
The division had different names throught the years and switched back and forth between the quarter-mile track and the big track. For simplicity, I'm going to refer to them as Mini Modifieds on this site. That's probably how most people visiting this site know them.
Below are different links for pages you can access. There is a page with a list of every race the division ran, and you can click on the date in the left column and see the results from that race - at least what was listed in the Tennessean. When the main library reopens, I'll take a look through the Banner to see if I can fill in some gaps.
There are also 17 pages of photos, from those races in the sixties through the final years on the big track.

Mini Modified Photos through the yearsI've tried to put them in close to chronological order, but many of the black and white photos, I have no clue.
Thanks to the many photographers who contributed to these pages. Among them are Mark Gregory and Bob Ray.
Others are from the collections of Gary Baker and Jay Donoho and some from my own collection.
